Thanks Hinchy, useful read, might dig out the rear fuse box and see what I can do as I plan to mount the radio in the boot area, easier to route antenna cables. The remote head just needs a flat multi core IIRC, like an old telephone extension cable.

I installed my FT8900 in the boot with no problems. I fitted it next to the spare wheel under the boot floor. I ran the remote head extension lead under the trim panels, under the passenger seat and put the head panel in the cup holder area. When not in use I simply unplugged the head unit and put it in the glove compartment. As I also used a mag mount for the antenna, I could set the whole lot up or take it down in about a minute. The advantage of this was that when not in use, nothing was in sight.

Thanks John, not sure about the cup holder area as I use that for my phone and charging etc, but once I get the bluetooth and handsfree sorted the phone could be placed anywhere.

I took the power from a spare fuse in the boot fusebox. I can't remember which one now but I had it on a permanent power one and not ignition controlled - a bit of poking around with a volt meter will find one. I earthed it to the chassis via one of the screws already doing that in the boot area - over by the sub woofer I think. I know the transceiver installation instructions say to take the power direct from the battery but my set up worked fine. John
