How much can you get in it. I've got a 57 and once I got from empty 70L in it. |

According to the Owners Manuals the capacity for the diesel version in 2007,2009 and 2013 is 68 litres. The petrol version has a capacity of 70 litres. |

Indeed, 75 quid is what I managed to get in on mine. I would usually put 85 to 90 quids

I've obviously not run my fuel level low enough as the most I've been able to get in to mine is 64.03 litres. Not got it down to limp mode is probably the reason.

On the 23/11/2012 I managed to get £100s worth into my 2007 FL2 . This was 72.22 litres and was some way off limp mode. I do not remember these things - I have a sad spreadsheet with all my fuel consumption details on! I now live in France where diesel is somewhat cheaper than in the UK so it shouldn't happen again. (no road tax either and MOT every 2 years!) John

Almost as sad. I use an app on my phone (fuel friend lite) to record fuel fills, price, fuel type. Could export to a spreadsheet but don't normally bother. |

My experience of fuel guages is that they are not accurate and only give an indication of fuel level remaining in the tank. They are probably only calibrated at two points, that is each end of their travel. These points may or may not be the highest or lowest level of fuel in the tank but just as far as the floats will move in their fitting. The only way to work out how much the tank and filler tube will hold is to physically empty the tank and then refill it. Volunteers! |

I regularly put in high 60's litres and have made 72l at one fill, the cut off is at least 10l below full, I just keep going to try and brim for consumption readings, but even when I think I'm there shake the car, put the nozzle away, then it goes glug and the filler tube is clear. I suspect 75l could be put in if you have the patience. perhaps both the petrol and diesel tanks are the same size, just that the design of the filler is bad and JLR just posted a lower capacity to stop us complaining about the time to fill due to frothing. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I've also noticed when filling up that the fuel cap is very difficult to remove.

Something wrong there, Aveling. A blocked breather can cause other problems too, like fuel starvation and even failure of the fuel tank itself (although the latter was more of a problem with steel tanks). It also makes the fuel pump work harder as it's fighting against the negative pressure in the tank.
