Now that I have my new Nikon P520 camera, I am wondering what the best software is to use. I don't have additional hard drives for my MacBook Pro so I need to avoid anything that will slow the computer right down.

iPhoto does pretty much for everyday use - level adjustment, red eye reduction, retouching, cropping etc. I still have Photoshop but find myself rarely using it. |

I must say I have used iPhoto and some of its features. I just wondered if there were any benefits to other programs. Perhaps for an amateur photographer like me, iPhoto will be plenty. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I use iPhoto for basic stuff and Photoshop Elements for more adventurous stuff. You can download most Adobe products for free for a trial period:

You can download gimp for the mac. No I'm not taking the Micky. Gimp is freeware and is very much like Photoshop, works on layers and has very good photo editing capability. If you have used photoshop then this is the next best thing for free. I think the site is gimp.org to download. |
