Morning all.

Have been searching threads regarding replacement (brighter) bulbs for the dip beam on my 2012 GS. Quite a lot of threads are older and wonder if the items are still available.

I am ok on main beam but when driving through the lanes on dip with oncoming traffic I find it a real problem.

So.....what's the general consensus for an uprated after market bulb and are there any pitfalls in changing.

I upgraded some time ago to an older version of the Nightbreaker - no downside so far and the lights are better.

hi I fitted the nightbreaker unlimited a month ago they seem much brighter than the stock ones that was fitted.easy job no problems.bought from eurocarparts up to 50% off sale so well pleased

Popped over to Halfords today but they do not stock them. So could order them off the net or I see Halfords have their own brand ultra something or other .....supposed to give 120% .....any good or should I wait for the nightbreakers?

I was in halfords the weekend just browsing at the cleaning products and wondered over to the bulbs to see if they had any nightbreakers all I could see we're their own brand, I let out a little sigh and walked out  BETTER looking half of the famous Twinlanders

Going against the grain, I purchased the Halfords bulbs a couple of months ago and they have been superb. Such a difference. I can't remember the exact name but I could find out for you tomorrow if you want? From memory it was about £26 for 2 under their buy one get one free offer. Halfords don't manufacture bulbs so they'll have been made by one of the major players and I believe from one of the review sites they actually beat the night breaker bulbs. I'll try to find the link.

Auto express bulb tests show that halfords bulbs are too variable, one bulb can be excellent the next one terrible, mainly in the beam direction dept.
so yes you can get good ones, but philips are no more cost and much more consistent At work

This is something I posted on another forum in 2009 so prices may be a bit out of date.
After reading many posts about H7 headlamp bulb upgrades I ordered in a selection of bulbs availible from one of our motor factor wholesalers.
I only ordered the ones that were road legal and I tried them out on a MK4 Fiesta purely because the bulb was easy to get to. As we are an MOT station, I tested the bulb for beam pattern and brightness using our headlamp testing machine. The beam patterns were all correct. I have taken pictures of the accurately recorded light output from each bulb. I also include the price WE paid to the wholesaler for each PAIR of bulbs. The price stated DOES NOT include vat.
I started with the cheapest and worked up in price to the dearest. You may be surprised at the results.

I've been running those on my motorcycle for some months now and they work very well

I've run several different brands of powerful bulbs before and one thing that they all have in common (Halfords own and premium brands) is that they blow much faster than standard lamps and replacing them more regularly is just a fact of life!
