Canada 2007 LR2 i6 HSE Auto Tambora Flame
Canadian "Green Levy"

In the 2007 Federal budget there is a "green levy". (linky) Apparently for every new vehicle sold after March 18th there is a tax of $1000 for every L/100km your vehicle consumes in excess of 13L/100km. Hopefully this doesn't affect the LR2 as the LR2 consumes 11.2 l/100km (as per LR's spec). It probably will affect LR's other offerings though. Anybody heard any official word on whether the LR2 is affected?

Re: Canadian "Green Levy"

Ahh, you have to hand it to the Canadian government; socialism (with a touch of ignorance) at it's best!

Were I to purchase an LR3 I'd pay an extra $4k for the pleasure, even if I drove it but 5km per day. Yet the fool who lives 120km from work and drives a hybrid gets a $2k kickback from the government. You do the math... This isn't a "Green Levy", it's just a barganing chip. If they really cared about fuel consumption, it would have been easy to raise the taxes again...

As per the original post, the LR2 should escape unscathed - as you pointed out the stated mileage is under the limit. If the number is per LR, and not the government (yes, the government sets the mileage rating, not the manufacture - that's why they are so far off from reality!), the stated mileage will probably get better.
