Power steering filter blocked.

Hi folks,

Yes its me again with the same issue, A few weeks back I decided to try 1 last attempt to cure the pas filter from blocking with debris and making the steering heavy, as you are all aware by now.

Its not that I am tight fisted but it brasses me off to spend £1000 on changing the steering rack because it has fine particles of swarf inside.

So, I bought 2 bottles of pas cleaner/ flush fluid off e bay for £10, flushed out the system with the cleaner, then flushed with LR pas fluid, fitted a new resevoir and now its working fine Very Happy

Will it block again ? I dont know, but it only cost about £30, and yes I have flushed the system out twice before at a cost of roughly £60, So lets say its cost me £100 in total to flush out the system 3 times.

new rack WILL be fitted if it blocks again, I will keep you informed Smile 2014 Audi A4 Avant - Dont like it !

Good luck; it's certainly worth a try! Thumbs Up

I ended up replacing the rack at a cost of about £450 all in but I wish now that I tried a flush out of the system. - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.

Worth speaking to Mike@LandRover on Land Rover Customer Services. It's a well known and accepted problem with early builds and LR might be prepared to contribute to the new steering rack if one is required. If you don't ask you won't get and if you do you migtht get something towards the cost.
