ok wifes 2007 td4 needs a little bit of coolant,I will check for leaks latter this week. With regards antifreeze will any red (OAT based )stuff do ? or does it have to be LR's own? I mean its a ford unit isn't it

I just popped into LR and picked a litre of the genuine stuff up from their parts department, I know I paid a bit more than normal but I know it's the right stuff, think is was about £10 a litre but its piece of mind, what's a tenner compared to a new engine.

What ratio do you mix it with water to?

The coolant specified by LR is Texaco (Havoline) XLC.
The concentrated stuff will be mixed 50:50 with distilled water.
Colour is somewhere around orange/pink.

PS: If you didn't loose too much coolant, just fill it to the level with distilled water. On a 7-8L capacity, a glass of water won't change the freezing point too much.

Would it be OK to use GM 6277M coolant for topping up? As I have 1 ltr left from changing the coolant on my Astra H.

I would do the followings...
1. Get the specification of Texaco XLC and see the characteristics and equivalents.
2. Get the specification of GM 6277M and see the characteristics and equivalents.
If they are the same, then I would use it.
Theoretically, according with Texaco XLC sheet, they are compatible. Both are OATs and orange/pink in color.

PS. I've used on my Freelander VW G12+ (TL774F), because my lady has a VW Polo and that coolant was at hand and it's compatible.
