If I was buying new, Xenons would be the first option I would pick, couldn't go back to Halogen. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Not worth the £950 option IMAO, car already comes with DRL's and Signature so it not like you will gain these also..... MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

It's a lot of money but the standard lights are really poor. Osrams help a bit but the lights are still inferior to the Citroen Berlingo I traded in!

Can anyone comment on the life expectancy and the efficiency of a) Osram Night Breaker Unlimited H7 bulbs and b) Bosch 477B H7 Xenon bulbs please?

Osram state that with any upgrade bulb you should expect a reduced life expectancy, however with a decent manufacturer you should still expect this to be measured in years and most likely you will upgrade again before one blows!

Osram have a mini site here... http://www.nightbreakerunlimited.co.uk/night-breaker-unlimited

We stock all Nightbreaker Unlimited apart from HB3 which is still only available in Nightbreaker Plus.

I bought Unlimited from Advance Factors a couple of weeks ago and must say that, compared to the standard H7 bulbs they do throw a better light. I fitted main as well as dipped solely because the colour change of the standard bulbs looked crappy. Definitely worth the money, specially at AF's prices. Ralph

Took a deep breath and swapped original dipped and main beam bulbs with Osram NU today. Haven't had time to try them yet but expecting them to be significantly better than the rather dim yellow light I had up till now.

I am mechanically incompetent but managed the task anyway (though managed to drop a spanner into the engine bay that hasn't re-appeared yet!). I was surprised at how "complex" the changing of a simple bulb was compared to any car I have owned over 50 years! I also reckon the materials used in the headlight units won't withstand too much attention from people as clutzy as me either, it seems rather flimsy in some respects, here's hoping the Osrams last a while.

Anyway - as usual, thanks to those who share the knowledge about what's involved in doing such tasks and the report back from those who have done it and found an improvement.

Would also like to say thanks to AF for the good price and speedy delivery of my order

I've now had the chance to try my newly fitted Osram NBU bulbs and have to say that my judgement is not one of unlimited praise.

The light is brighter, it is whiter - so far so good, but there are 2 very definite dark patches within the light "pool" on the road on dipped beams and I am not at all convinced that the beam is in any way "longer" than my old bulbs.

I like the whiter light temperature and imagine that I will get used to the darker patches within the beam, given time I might think they are a real improvement but at the moment I'm not so sure. It might be that swapping the bulbs would rid me of the patches so will consider doing this if it still bugs me in a week or two.

Has anyone else who has upgraded to these bulbs noticed anything similar?

SakoQuad,

Are the replacement bulbs seated properly in the holders? If not, this could account for the "dark patches". garioch43

On looking at the headlamp lens the dipped bulb is marked as H11/DIS so is it an halogen or xenon bulb.

The main beam is h7
