Browser homepage

Like many people I suspect, I had iGoogle as my homepage. Since Google closed down iGoogle, I haven't got round to actively selecting a replacement, just sitting on google.co.uk ...

I've looked at symbaloo, startme.com, ustart.org, netvibes, protopage, msn etc etc but not really been happy with any.

I don;t want just a page full of hyperlinks, I do want some content (typically UK news, weather, tech news, uk politics etc) but don't want the kind of sprawling trivial content that you get with (eg) yahoo, msn or the like (you know full of celebs, fashion, gossip, tittle-tattle, horoscopes etc)...

Any suggestions welcomed... Very Happy

I do pretty much the same as CG, except that I don't even bother with google, just a blank page. Now one can type searches into the main address bar the google home page isn't really needed.

That's pretty much my current arrangement and TBH it does work fine. I think I'll stick with it.

Yes you can type search items into the address bar but you often get recent pages you've browsed to, or at least a limited choice, not so good either for complex searches, with exclusions & other logical operators applied, or country / site / date specifics...

Cheers!

I quite like the google themes, when I see an interesting one I click on it and learn a new fact for the day.

last one I clicked was the guy who designed the coke bottle and many other things At work

That's the beauty of the web... a click can lead you to soooo many things ... and so another day is gone... a day spent on t'web is a day when chickens don't get milked, Freelanders don't get washed, and caravans don't get torched... Very Happy
