Problem - throttle body?

I had a new key coded last week and after the dealer did the programming which involves throttle cycling without starting engine the throttle stuch so the car wouldn't start.
They removed the throttle body and cleaned the gunge from inside and it's been fine since - well since today Sad

I booked it in for a new throttle body as they said it'll happen again so next saturday a new housing (complete unit) will be fitted.
On the way home today i stopped for 5 mins and when starting the car it had the same symptoms as last week - it was like turning the key and not letting go - the engine wouldn't run and then the HDC system fault and Enginefault messages came on the display.

After waiting a few minutes (after several attempts to try to start it) it fired up and drove as normal - getting home i switched it off and there were 2 similar noises which sounded like grinding?
I'm not sure if this was the gears in the housing as by the time i opened the bonnet it had stopped

Has anyone else had anything similar?
Would the throttle housing problem cause all this?

Got to use the thing all next week to get to work and back but not sure if it's going to last Crying or Very sad

Hi
I had same prob a few weeks ago.
Called out landrover assist. he took off the hose to the throttle body intake and released a stuck butterfly valve on the air intake.
Car started straight away. but he said it would happen again if not sorted I had a new valve fitted and its been fine since Smile

The noise you hear is the Throttle Body resetting, the two gears are slipping, if it starts in the morning, I can't say, but you will know the answer by noon. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

so do the gears only work when starting and shutting down or do they spin all the time the engine is running?

Just figured out we have a similar problem - makes a noise as soon as the keyfob is in the slot, it's this bit.

From what I can find on here it is a DIY job -any pics available?

Thanks.

mine doesn't make a noise when inserting the key - it starts when pressing the start button, sounds as though the button isn't released when it's started (as though it's constantly cranking over when running)
