Fitted kumho kc15 tyres a couple days ago. Grip in wet is instantly better.

Wife says it looks crap tho. She likes the 20 inch alloys instead of the winter 17's

Wintrac's arrived today from pneus, £113.50 for 235/65/17. Very happy with the service.

From October to May it's below 7 degrees in the morning. With snow tyres on the freelander and a bit of momentum you can get through some impressive snow drifts. I've never managed to get completely stuck but at about the 3 foot level the snow banks under the car - a bit like aqua planing. If you come to a stop then to restart you often need to turn off the DSC.

Just had mine fitted at home this morning by Event Tyres , Dunlop Winter Sport 3D .

I ended up with a set of 265/60/18 Vredestein Wintrac 4 Xtreme.
Only driven 40 or so miles today but they do feel more sure footed than the Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 on todays damp greasy roads at around 7/8 c, I'm also happy that the tread looks alot more agressive in the flesh than on the pics online, so hopefully they should be ok for light off roading.
I will report back after a few more miles, and different contitions weather permitting!!

Just switched out my 19" pirelli verde for some 17" vredestein Wintrac 4 Xtreme for the Winter. Very happy with the Pirelli's but fancied some winter tyres and might be doing a trip to Austria at some point.

It's probably going to be a bit hard for me to accurately discern the difference between these two (all season and winter) because I've switched size as well as 'type'.

Never had any problems.

I think you would be amazed if you tried winter tyres.

the ultragrips are great, I am running them at the moment, great in the wet.
I could not tell the difference between these and the vredestien's, apart from the MPG
Goodyears got 2-3 more MPG's

Went with Merit tyre so i can put the current tyres in their "Tyre Hotel". They originally quoted £190, but they price matched black circle's £160.
