I'm getting weekly updates from BMW with regard to progress of my X3

Latest update is its going in to build week 5 w/c 27th January

In America (where German owned BMW build the X1,X3,X5 and X6!!!) they can log on to a live website for updates on their build as well as receiving a DVD of their actual car being built when they collect it. I read somewhere that LR now do a special delivery event for buyers of their top of the range FFRR (Gaydon possibly?) in a state of the art building and get a full session of how everything works on the vehicle (before waving them goodbye and throwing the shutters down before it breaks down)  Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

See - that's pretty cool and really makes you feel valued as a customer.

I'm convinced larger companies under-estimate the value of value. Making a fuss of someone helps/completes the experience. Ok we're spending a lot of money on one of their products - but the buying experience should be a lot more than just about the product - it's not like we buy one every day

On of my boys ordered a Scirocco about three years ago, made in Portugal I believe, he could track that from the Oder date, to going down the line, coming off the line, awaiting shipment, could even track the ship it was coming from Portugal on. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Dealer rang me last night to confirm when the build will start its only takes 7 days for the whole process and thats including delivery to the dealership . MY14 Evoque has had problems on the production line with the panoramic roof so they have stopped production until it is rectified. In the mean time focus has gone onto building the MY14 Freely. 7 days build including delivery to dealer...

My BMW is 2 days to build and then 3 weeks on a ferry from USA to Southampton, then to dealer

Strangely BMW build the X models in just one factory based in America hence the long lead in times
