Side steps...

What's the use of side steps on a car like Freelander 2?
I know, it's a matter of taste, but they look so strange (to not say awful, in my opinion) and ruin the whole car's aspect...

So here goes the legend that they are useful to something or someone...
It seems they're not even able to sustain a person's weight...
So, what's the use?

Not to mention the fact that you could ruin your trousers in the lower part by the dirt that accumulates on the side steps. The lower part of the FL2 door sills are specially designed to cover the bottom part of the door's frame and for not dirtying your pants when you get out. These side steps are nullifying this advantage.
Not tell me that you could step on them when you get out. For FL2 ride height this is a joke... Like stepping down from the sidewalk. Laughing

And on winter they collect snow and ice and makes the door's opening an adventure after a long trip...
