First day I took delivery of my cheerished FL2 I wanted to putsome washer fluid. The deaers have put some but as I have carried a 5 liter flask for over 250 Km just wanted to fill up the odd 6 liter tank. So I raise the engine lid and probably impressed with the easy hydraulicraise system manage somehow to loosen up the washer tank lid so that it falls at the bottom of the right of the engine. As I have read that there are hot pipes in that area from the air conditioning, engine cooling, Xenon unit and other vital systems and as the space was sort of tight asked my wife to try to extract the lid as she has a smaller wrist. Of course I assured her that there were not hot pipese and no danger at all. She tried but did not succed (did not got a burn either) so had to find a stick and managed to recover the lid.

Got fed up trying to get the lid out of the area behind the pipes, so now use some cling film and a rubber band.

Why are people having problems with this lid, mine has a small wee plastic strap on it so the lid can't be lost ______________________

Maybe this only affects early build models? Mine's a 2008 model and has the strap, so maybe LR found taht tehy were dropping quite a few in the factory and then changed it. |

I have inspected my 'lid' and come to the conclusion that some people on the forum must have really fat clumsy fingers At work

Just you wait. Just when you are least expecting it, maybe today, maybe tomorrow but one day the little critter will flip up into the air and down the crack.
