As long as I have had the freely I have had a very annoying squeak from the rear of the centre console area (between front seats) usually when turning or on a rough road. It sounds like two plastic surfaces are not secured properly and are giving a little when under stress.

How do I remove the console without breaking anything and making it worse as it is not obvious from the outside? - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.

Have you first tried lubricating the plastic?
Get some silicon spray and liberally get it into the joints it may save you the heartache of getting it all out, of course you may have tried this but it certainly would be my first call.

Just a little tip, watch out when replacing the little nuts at the front under the gear lever gaitor.
I managed to drop 2 and never managed to find them :-/

on last thing to check first, be sure its not the seat belt clasps against the seat, I put some sticky furrry stuff on them to cure a squeak. At work

Thanks for the tips. Narrowed it down to the seat belt anchor next to the tunnel. Tried silicon spray and placing pads on contact areas without success. It seems to be the steel cables in the mount. I will have another go at it and report back as it's driving me crazy. Funny but it does not bother the wife at all.
