[For Sale] FL2 Xenon light kit

I bought this kit for my FL2 to replace the H7 bulbs. My car had the projector type lenses which work well with aftermarket Xenons.
They are plug and play using the original connectors. The only mod necessary is a 15mm hole in the rear headlight cover to allow cable access.
They are 5000k which is equivalent to OEM and is a massive improvement on the standard halogen bulbs.
These do not cause error messages from the Canbus.
You will need to remove them for your MOT but this only takes 15mins or so.
Headlight leveling via the manual adjuster still works so you can adjust for heavy loads.
Looking for 」40 plus postage or collect from Norwich.

Why will you need to remove them for the MOT test? Do they not give the correct beam pattern? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Legally in order to pass an MOT Xenon's need to be self levelling which these are not.

Thought that would be the answer. I'm not interested in them but speaking as an mot tester, you definately will not need to remove them for the mot test providing they give the correct beam pattern and are not too 'blue'. Just to let the OP know, you do not need levellers to be fitted for the mot. Thumbs Up Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Well, thats news to me! I guess the crucial thing is that the self levelling must work if fitted but if it isn't there, then no problem.
The beam pattern is excellent with precise cutoffs so shouldn't present any problems at MOT time.

Be interesting to know if they would fail it because there WAS a levelling adjustment there previously, albeit manually operated. Foraging near Gaydon....

Nope. Same as headlamp washers. Only counts if fitted at time of test. There is no option to fail the car for it not being fitted, just fitted and not working. Thumbs Up Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

It's easy I did it in mine using the new style halogen projectors just cut a hole in the back casing, you get a rubber grommet in the kit, h11 bulbs you need like the fogs When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

Its very straightforward:
Undo and remove 2 x 10mm bolts on top of headlight
Lift up black tab and slide headlight towards front of car by about 50mm
Press clip and ease off the multi way connector and slide the headlight free of the car.
Place lens down on s soft surface to avoid scratching and unclip the light back panel - be gentle with the plastic fixing rod as its easy to snap
Drill a 15mm hole in the panel in line with the dipped beam bulb. (Plenty of slack supplied so doesn't need to be spot on accurate)
Disconnect the old bulb, twist and remove.
Feed the xenon cables through the hole and secure the grommet.
Push the two grey kit wires into the bulb connector.
Insert the xenon bulb into the light and twist to the correct position.
Replace the back panel.
Attach the two other cables to the ballast - can only be fitted one way.
Fix the ballast to bodywork - I used double sided tape and placed them behind the light. There is a convenient spot which is also in the airflow so keeps the ballast cool.
Slide the light back in, attach the multiway connector, push back till the fixing "clicks" and replace the 2 bolts.
Switch on and enjoy your new xenon light!
Should take you about 20 mins a side tops.
If you can get to Norwich, I'll fit them for you!

I would not even fit an aftermarket kit to a a freelander when it is easier to simply fit complete Xenon headlights and programme the car. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

There's a big difference in a set of the HID lamp units and a kit for 」40, not everyone can afford to buy the full lamps

yes, these are quite easy to fi, just be careful not to crack any plastic parts in the lenses when handling, as they are brittle when cold. I warmed my back lens covers before drilling.

Also, my car passed an MOT (at HIQ) with these fitted, and the tester was aware they had been added as after market.

In projector lenses these give a very bright pattern, with very little glare, unless you manually adjust the beam too high
