Some more detail might help - make? type? Either way once fitted you will need to tell the ECU that it's there. |

Easy enough, Bumper will have to come off, you will also need to cut an area about 4" square (with rounded corners) to allow the towball to fit in the receiver, as above a visit to the dealer to enable it. Then depending on what you are towing in a few months posting again to say its clonking p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

Mine was a Thule one, which is the same as the LR one, as I understand it the Witter one does not need a cut. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

You're right ad210358, it was a Witter one, not a Thule. We chose this one as it is a "Removable Flange" type so you can fit a bike rake to it. |

It was a bit of a faf, the worst part was the amount of effort needed to pull the rear lights out, I was convinced I was going to break something! 2010 Td4e with too much warranty work to detail

Lights off first, two screws on each light behind the Tailgate Seal, then the bumper, there are two more plastic panels behind the bumper that need removing also, so no way will you do it with out bumper removal. As I understand it the Witter one can be done without bumper removal. Is it a new Towbar or used, as the new one should come with instructions, if not you can download them from Topix. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

I fitted a Witter detachable towbar to my previous Freelander. No bumper cut needed nor bumper removal. Instructions talked about cutting two holes behind the NS bumper reflector to bolt on a bracket behind the bumper... I managed it by reaching up inside from underneath.

There were a couple of plastic panels behind the bumper that had to be removed (iirc) two bolts in each one, at the very bottom, remove the two bolts, the panels then had to be hinged up 45 degrees to unlatch the the panels at the top, the cross member went behind the two panels. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |
