My wife has an (old) BMW 525i, and we both much prefer to drive the FL2. Also tested (unbiased) the BMW X3 before decided to go for the FL2. I got my FL2 mid-January, and have more than 12.000 kms now. (Drive a lot) I have had some electrical problems. Have had to call Land Rover Assistance twice due to flat battery. Have had some software updates that is supposed to ensure this is now fixed. The signs before this happened was that the display died, radio & SAT/NAV turned itself of and on, squeeking mirror. But then I did not know that these were signs of electrical problems. No problems now, except mirror has started squeeking again. -On and off. (see another thread here about that) Do I love or hate my FL2? I LOVE IT! Would I buy it again? YES, DEFINITELY! 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack. If you are planning to do some off-roading, forget the X3 and XC90. The FX35 is unfamiliar to me, so I cannot say. Please report back your impression of the cars after the test-drive. We're curious, you know.... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack. |

I have been the 'proud' owner of two 3 series BMW's, first was a saloon and the second was a coupe - first one broke down that often I knew the local BMW roadside assistance man by first name terms! Second one was off the road for a week just 2 weeks after having it and again when it was 18 months old! Lovely cars to drive but reliability was pants! Was reluctantly looking at the new shape 3 series coupe prior to the FL2 but wasnt a great fan of the back end design nor the expense of having to spec it up to get features which are standard on most cars. Well pleased with the FL2, whilst it doesnt have the punch of the BMW it is far nicer to drive - yes i know you can't compare a 3 series against a FL2 but when both cost the same amount of money I know which I would prefer to drive!! Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

Hi Zetaxi Also have a BMW 335 - boy they're fast aren't they, love it, we have auto its incredibly good. We too had reservations about having a LR2 as our second car, but they have been mis-founded (touch wood), really pleased with ours. They are COMPLETELY different driving experiences, we have a GS LR2 because it had all we needed, however I do think the SE is propably the most balanced spec for price - depends what you need from the car. When you get the LR park it next to the BMW and compare the paint jobs - the BMW looks c**p compared. A great choice of 2 cars if you don't mind me saying. Cheers, Harry |

Had a BMW 320d touring, great car to drive but was very unreliable. It had 3 turbo chargers and a new engine before 40k miles.

We do not have the diesel version of the LR2 here in Canada. Many here reporting on the engine refer to the diesel, so my question is: How do the two engines compare? I am glad to here that people enjoy the diesel, is the gas any worse/better or just different? Coming soon: LR2 HSE; Alaska White; Nav; Premium Sound; Bluetooth; Lighting Package |

The FX35 is the quickest out of the lot without a doubt, but is in no way meant for offroading at all. Great looking car I think, but at the end of the day it is simply a Nissan and teh interior is not quite up to the LR in that area I feel. |

Over here I doubt they sell many petrol version of anything any more. Fuel costs are just too high, but then again, with the bunch of morons we have as a government who've made diesel even more expensive than petrol I don't know how much of an advantage it now is. Diesel was the same price as petrol when I bought my first oil burner, it's now 11p+ a litre more expensive. From experience, Diesel is a little more noisy and rougher to drive, but the better low end grunt means that to drive n traffic it's just as quick but more relaxed and for 4x4 duties such as towing or off roading, its the best choice as you don't need revs to get at the power. 07 Freelander 2 TD4SE Tambora Flame, side steps, privacy glass, mud flaps, boot liner and a tow bar. Ok it's the Wifes but she lets me drive it occasionally - if I've been good! |

The 335 has not been without its problems. It spent about 6 weeks in the shop so far - for a failed fuel pump and intercooler.
