our freelander 2 has been sitting for around for a few months i went to use the aircon and have found the bolwer is not working, the lights on the fan controller all light up but no rotation of the fan how can i access it to turn a bit to see if its just stuck from lack of use

Have you checked the fuse ?

i checked the fuse "40 amps" and also the voltage at the fuse holder both were ok

Took it to my LR dealer and the £55 diagnostic is suggesting the Fan Motor Resistor. Not sure how much it is going tocost me yet.

This is probably to a broken AC/heater control module. It is the one located in your dash. It is easy replaceable, but a new one needs to be programmed with dealer diag. You also have a solid state relay located very close to your throttle pedal. It is not easy accessable, but it is possible to disconnect the multiplug and check for where to measure for 12V and GND. Try first to reprogram the AC control module with the "Configure new module"

Yes, you are close. You can feel the connector in there somwhere... (But your problem is probably not there.)
I think it is the control module who got the problem. You need diagnostic here. Even if you replace the control module it will not start the fan. You need to program it with dealer diag IDS/SSD first.

I have fixed the blower motor, I found the blower control module on the glove comp side (RHD car) it is located at the same level as the fan control panel. remove the glove comp and the duct immediately behind the glove comp the screw is on the back, look towards the fire wall the control module has four wires two thick two thin I pulled the plug of checked the voltage and earth all good, I shorted the two thick wires using a thick piece of wire and the fan ran was stuck from lack of use put everything back and it now works correctly, what a pain still did not locate the blower fan but never mind.
please be careful if trying this for a similar problem as the system is backed by a 40 amp fuse quite a large spark when I shorted out the wires

Well done! So you gave it a shock and it was turning again! I didn't see that one coming...

it took my dealer 4hrs (they quoted me 1) to change the replacemetn of of blower motor. The part was LLR016630 (Motor and Fan).

All working now. I wish I had the "balls" to strip my car down and do it myself.

Big thanks to you guys, after replacing the battery on my 2009 FL2 the blowers would not work. I followed the directions on this thread and after checking the 40amp fuse, unplugged the blower control module and shorted the two large wires together to check the blower motor, which worked. When I plugged the connector back in everything was working again. I can't think what caused the failure or the fix, but it's all ok now. Cheers. Freelander 2, Nissan Elgrand Autech Rider.

Hi, I tried this yesterday and it got my blower working fine, could this cause the car to dump coolant though?

Bought a new resistor when my blower stopped working 2 weeks ago. Changing it didn’t fix it but then tried shorting the big wires and it burst into life. Hopefully that’s sorted it for now, should have tried shorting first before I paid out but hey ho suppose I can try to get my money back. Current: MY11 SD4 HSE / Sterling Quartz 2010 caravan
