11am, the 11th of the 11th....

"the nation came to a standstill at 11am this morning", according to the BBC. They obviously haven't been to my office. Not a solitary soul seemed to give a damn at 11am. Even when I mentioned to folk it was clear they couldn't give a hoot. Mind you, as the only person in the office wearing a poppy, I should have expected less...

Standing beside my Land Rover at 11:00 hrs today I was joined by a robin perching on the wing mirror. Particularly poignant as that is where the poppy is displayed this year.

It does not excuse your collegues - but helps to redress the balance just a little. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

And I work in a school where we ring a bell to mark the beginning and end of 2 minutes silence. Today our common room with over one hundred students in stood in absolute silence for 2 minutes at 11am. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

I stood alone in my front room for two minutes staring with pride at my late fathers WW2 RAF flying helmet.
Something got into my eyes..........

Our lab went quiet
All machines off
Phones shut down and all staff quiet
We do this every year without fail
It's only 2 mins for people who gave up more than just time

I stood at the self check out till at Tesco, who kindly announced they would be having a moment to remember

Nice to see the whole supermarket grind to a halt, and stand still, shame the ladies till opposite was shouting to her about scanning a voucher, at least she tried to keep her crying child occupied though whilst looking quite embarrassed Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Glad to hear others had a better experience than I did.

Navigator - thanks for the Robin story.

Did anyone hear/see this story?

That one made my day.

Working in a school that has break time over 11am so we stopped at 12 midday for 2 minutes. Better than nothing!

excellent article Stooby, and a great turn out for the person Thumbs Up

Its great when that happens, a friend lost his mother in a storm a few years back when a tree branch fell and hit her as they were driving past/under it.

We went to the church for the funeral and he had been expecting 30'ish people, but something like 200 turned up, a great way of showing a loved one that they would be missed. A quick phonecall and the wake was trippled in size and more food ordered. He was shocked by the turn out to say the least. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I was working at home yesterday with the laptop on the kitchen table. Had the TV on and stood for the minutes silence. A lot of people would no doubt think me daft, but it was what I wanted to do.

My grandfather served in France in WW1 and father in various places with the RAF in WW2. Might have joined the RAF myself when I left school but assumed my -10 myopia would scupper the prospect. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech
