Might go second hand, feels a bit like I shouldn't, but I think it might make a better investment in the long run

My best watches are a couple of Rotary one's. Peasant watches compared to the big names but nice anyway, particularly the square faced one. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

If "U Boat" means as in German submarines I think anyone buying one is sick!

I have noticed U boat watch displays in jewellers windows, but I only noticed them because they are H U G E! They just look so thick and heavy to me. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Some great deals can be found for some new Omegas at grey dealers such as www.iconicwatches.co.uk & www.swisswatchesdirect.co.uk They (and others) are always worth a look if you fancy new - I can personally recommend Iconic - they are a bricks n mortar jewellers in Blackburn where you can collect if you prefer instead of doing a purely online purchase |

If that is the style you prefer and you like Omegas then I would suggest you also have a look at a Speedmaster Professional (often called a Moonwatch or SpeedyPro). They are a great watch where the classic design has remained largely unchanged for over fifty years - they are popular for a reason. A twist is to get one which was manufactured or sold in your birth year. The link to the NASA lunar missions is kinda cool too. You can easily buy new or second hand (starting from about £1k). I have a lovely hand-wind, 1st gen moonwatch and it gets lots of wrist time. Although vintage, it is a good size and very usable. Loads of info on the net for the faithfully SpeedyPro but wiki is a good starting point http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega_Speedmaster |

+1 for the Omega PO. There are 2 options for the case diameter size if the 45mm is a bit overpowering.

Just searched watch finder, no '73 build ones, but there is a '05 that's caught my eye
