Terrain Response fault (and unknown warning lights!)

Hi Folks,

My '07 model has me tearing my hair out now after accumulating a number of issues. My local LR garage is more of a Defender specialist and can't really figure out (or be bothered with!) the problems:

1) Terrain Response fault - traction reduced. Message has been coming up every time it's driven, but doesn't appear to drive any differently. A main LR dealer said it was linked to the Haldex pump, which, if replaced, may or may not fix it. As there's no noticeable change to how it's been driving (and they quoted in the region of £3k to fix) I haven't bothered.

2) two amber warning lights, which I can't find the meaning of - one immediately below the temperature gauge (circle with a ! in the middle) and one furthest to the right below the rev counter (the triangle with a ! inside).

Any pointers gratefully appreciated

Thanks,
Tyke

1.
It could be just a sensor problem. Earlier cars with Haldex3, like yours, could develop a problem with Haldex pressure sensor.

2.
Circle + exclamation - Brake warning indicator (low fluid or Emergency Brake Assist or Electronic Brake Distribution)
Triangle + exclamation - Dynamic Stability Control error
Could be just a simple problem with one of the ABS sensors.

Anyway, a fault code reading session with a compatible diagnostic tool it will help a lot and clarify some issues...

Ah.... And a reading of the Handbook will also be beneficial... For example page 20...
If you don't have one, here you could find one: http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic10621.html

Got to agree with Alex on this one.
Had a wheel sensor that had been given a knock. they are very sensitive to mounting position.
When it is out of tolerance the ABS cannot reliably tell the wheel speed, so it turns off the ABS.
The same sensor is used for traction control and the stability program.

You could try removing each of the sensors in turn and refitting them.
Even if this works you might still have to have the fault cleared using the appropriate diagnostics tool. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
