IMHO, the top level (G's) are more likely to be doubled. I would predict that the group Fs (£190 + £5 diesel surcharge) will go up about 50%. I think this will be the case, as there are a lot of 'family saloons' which also fall into Group F.

In Belgium, we may expect a similar tax increase. CO2 reduction is the key word today, used as an excuse for all kinds of easy money collection. For a Freelander diesel, on top of the 21 % VAT, today we pay already 867 € (578 £) registration tax when we buy the car + yearly 486 € roadtax (324 £) + the taxes on the fuel.

Either way if you have offset your CO2 output at purchase (by paying LR) its a double tax having to pay uk.gov again for CO2 output and not know that the additional funds are being put towards carbon reducing projects. |
