United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey
Newbi saying hi plus a few questions

So gone and got my self a Freelander 2 HSE 07 plate in gray 3.2 l I6 today Very Happy
Ive got freelander 1 S model as well which is up for sale now so im not a noob to the 4x4 world.
The comfort level, ride hight, and the whole size of the thing is a big boost, feels like a mini range!

So my few questions are::
1)boot keeps opening when i press the unlock button, what can that be?
2)N/S folding mirror does not work, i can hear the motor moving but the mirror does not clip in.

Thanks for all your help. Jason

Welcome Thumbs Up

First one, Tailgate switch, suffers from water ingress, you can spend 45 minutes messing about cleaning it and it may last a bit longer, or spend £30 and 30minutes and replace it with a new one.

Second one. Try resetting the mirror, pull the mirror towards the front of the car, it should go round far enough so it's pointing to the front, then pull it back to its normal position, you should here it click into place.

Try a search for the tailgate, there is a guide on here how to do it. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Whilst you've got the mirror pushed forward as per AD's comment above give the workings a spray with a lubricant. It's mainly plastic so silicone will be fine.

One of LRO's staff is running an i6 petrol now too - the very one which appeared in Fifth Gear's item on the FL2 when it was first released back in 06. Nice to see something other than Defenders and Discos in LRO, even if the age and history of the i6 means it's not exactly trouble free!

Whilst on LRO (bit of an aside - sorry), they report that the 2014 Discovery (like the new RRS) will not have low range in the lower spec models. I can understand that on the RRS, as it's not really aimed at the off-road/towing market, but the Discovery? Come on Land Rover - what are you thinking?!

I suspect it is based on the fact that the majority of Discovery drivers don't use low range as they don't tow or go off road. Removing the transfer box reduces weight (slightly) and helps to bring CO2 emissions down which has allowed Discovery to drop a car tax band.

It is still available as an option for those that need/want low range.

Yeah, I know, but even so. And whilst I haven't seen Discovery pricing if it's anything like the RRS aiui a spec which includes low range adds a lot to the base price, which is high enough already.
