Where is it best to get spare rims for winter tyres

After reviewing some good feedback on the forums I am getting some Winter tyres probably Ved wintrac4Xtreme. pnues are doing them now for £120 but will give my local guy a chance to match. Sorry to be a bit dim as never had 2 sets before but I am guessing it is general practice to have a second set of rims? if so where can I get a set at a reasonable price.

Maybe you don't have time to wait, but if you do there are often sets of 17" wheels either on this forum or on e-bay. Make sure you get FL2 wheels, as FL1 wheels don't fit (compare picture with vehicles in the galleries). Generally speaking ones with good tyres can be silly prices, with old tyres (which would be fine for you) they can be pretty cheap.

For a couple of winters I just had the tyres swapped over on existing rims. Then a year or so ago I managed to get a spare set of 2nd hand alloys off ebay over the summer months. Now just change the wheelsets.

Pays your money takes your choice...but this isn't the cheapest time to get spare rims.

keep an eye on AJs 4x4 who have rims for sale

Ebay, plenty of used wheels. they don't need to be immaculate or new as long as they are correct PCD and offset any wheel compatable with an FL2 will suffice. eh tu?

Slightly off topic here but I bought some 16in wheels and tyres from a fellow forum user and found this for storing the spare set.

It's right up to the weight limit but cheap as chips for a movable storage system.

Agree with others here, Ebay is the best best, just keep an eye on it as good sets don't stay for sale long if they have a buy now button. I got some reasonable LR 16" alloys with mostly worn tyres on auction, and cleaned up they are absolutely fine for a set of winter rims. Going price for the 16's seems to be from £100-£200 for a set of 4. If you want 17's and are prepared to pay more, several places have rims taken off new cars for around the £400 mark, just search for Freelander 2 wheel, or you can get used sets for less or more than this, the tyres on them seem to dictate the price.

Paisley Freight will collect and deliver a set of 4 wheels and tyres for £28.99 if 17" or under, so if the seller wont deliver that is an option for you.

They charge £56.00 for a set of 4x4 wheels + tyres - it cost me £20 to send 1 wheel+tyre yesterday Sad

For anyone with MY13 onwards the minimum wheel size you can fit is 17 inch. For all previous models you can fit 16 inch wheels.
