battery voltage and dropping

I often don't do many miles in the car, and about once every month or two charge my battery up

the car starts each time perfectly fine, but i am noticing my blackvue has either switched off, or switches off as soon as i open my car first thing on a morning, due to the powersave unit i have installed inline

i have the power save set at 11.4v (iirc) is this a sign of the battery dying Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Yeah, your knackering your battery, continued discharge kills them, I think 12v is considered completely flat for a battery. Think i'd put it on a smartcharger once a week with the Blackvue on it.

Could always change my settings to 12v to turn off but iirc it would not stay on when I did

Need to check voltage input from alternator too Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I would start to doubt the power saver accuracy, if it turned itself off thinking the battery was 11.4 volts, the car wouldn't start Exclamation Your blackvue has a rating of about 3 watts which would draw about 1 amp every 4 hours which is b Censored r all.

Might be worth re-checking connections and earthing of your blackvue just in case it's volt drop though.

My blackvue is left permanently on, has been parked up Friday afternoon until Monday morning and started no problem. Didn't bother with the power saver thing, a lot of money for what it is.

Mines set on 12v never been a problem, get the message occasionally if parked that it's going into parking mode and the message that it's going back to recording mode when on the move again. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

just checked my power save and earth connections

earth was fine, and the battery saver was set 11.8v (+\- 0.1v) so i have set it too 12v to see what happens

its set to turn off after 36 hours too

before i checked this, i got into my car for the bacon butty run, i saw the green light flashing (no blue light), but when i started my car, the blackvue went through the start up process, as if it was needing to reboot, it that did the blackvue for your safe driving speach

I have noticed, that my blackvue ( a resent replacement) is not keeping connected to the satellite, and the blue light lights up shortly after driving

I have put this down to maybe the satellite been low in the sky, and my office blocking it or the fence/ garage been in the way

or is this a sign of it been shagged Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Mine does that when in parked mode, then when it goes to record mode the blue light starts flashing, indicating GPS lock. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Strange as my old one, prior to this replacement always was on as I recall a few nights returning home and thinking that blue GPS lights is a bit bright on a night, once driving it locks on within minutes Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

That's why I had to get the first one replaced, the chip set fried so I had no GPS.
Is the blue light supposed to stay on all the time, as when it's in parking mode, it knows where it is as it's not moving, when it gets the volts from the ignition circuit that comes live when you unlock it then starts to enter record mode and looks for the satellites Question p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Charged my battery up before my hols, and 3 days later the blackvue is back to switching it self off, only done short trips so I guess starting and short trips taken it's toll on the battery life now and I'll need to replace it

Any suggestion on brands? Sizes etc Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
