United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Caspian Blue
Front wipers park position

Can anyone help with the annoying front wiper problem that I have on my 2007 Freelander 2 please.
If the engine is running and the wipers are operating, when you turn off the wipers they return to the park position then move back up the screen then stop at about 20 degrees.
When just the ignition is on without the engine running the wipers work perfectly and stop in their correct home position when turned off.
I thought it was probably the motor so I replaced the motor and linkage but the wipers still didn't stop in their correct position.
Thanks

What you are describing is a winter park position for the wipers, I think it's activated by pressing the wiper stalk done after the ignition is switched off, do you push the switch in this manner? Although it may only be the latest model that has this function?

It is when I am driving the car using the wipers, then when I turn the off whilst still driving they move to the home then back up the screen a bit on stop.

Hmm, that sounds like a limit switch problem, must admit I don't know where it is on the FL2, someone will be along who will have an idea. If the wipers are not hitting the extremities of travel then the arms must be in the right place, it can only leave the limit switch.

I thought it was only 13MY that had winter park for wipers. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

J77, yes you're right it is just the latest model.

Had a look on the parts website and there are no limit switches showing as separate components, they may be integral within the motor, double check the travel limits and adjust if necessary.

The wipers work fine when just the ignition is on, when the engine is running they park in the wrong position.

Would a reset cure this - disconnect battery, touch leads together and leave disconnected for 15 mins?

A reset sounds like a good idea.
Will the car start ok after 15 minutes?

Only just noticed this thread - Taz, you were right the first time. My MY2012 had this feature (can't speak for a 2007 build), which was activated exactly as you described. I used it extensively last Winter when I knew the frost was likely to be thick and heavy. The MY2013 is set up in the central screen by using the right hand set of buttons on the steering wheel. The 2007 does have a Service Position, which is exactly the procedure Taz states, 3 seconds after ignition off hold wiper lever down until wipers move to vertical. Are they the same thing just re-named later on.

There is a park position on the 2007 Freelander 2.
My problem is the wiper stops at about 20 degrees from the horizontal park position.
Did I do the hard reset correctly by leaving it 15 minutes?
Does anyone know if there is a relay that controls the wipers or is it done purely with the ECU?

According to what I can find out, the chances are it is relay related, R231 is the relay I think, as R232 controls the speed, where it is located not sure, either under the bonnet by the battery or behind the Glove Box.
Hope it helps Thumbs Up p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
