United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 S Manual Aintree Green
wet windscreen

Hi all,
having issues with a new to me 07 td4s, with the weather turning colder and wetter over the last few days I am getting a lot of misting on the screen, to the point of it dripping onto the dashboard, have had a look at all obvious points for water getting into the car but nothing doing, changed pollen filter last weekend, checked
drainage route from windscreen,
Any ideas? did see a post on here where someone had there ac regassed and it cured their problem , is that an option, ac seems to work ok , is pretty cold quite quickly.

Thanks

Andy

An educated guess would be that the pollen filter is very old and full of crap.

Freelanders are not known for leaking. Have a look at the pollen filter and change it anyway. Then give the glass a good clean.

Also, under the bonnet on either side near the hinges, make sure the vents are not blocked with leaves etc.

Hopefully this will sort the problem. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

If it's new to you it may just be that it got damp inside before you got it, either from being left standing for some time, or parked with a window open in the rain. If that's the case it may go away after a while when it dries out.

If the aircon gets cold it's unlikely to be that, and you seem to have checked the other obvious potential culprits (there's a drain pipe which can come loose and drop water into the passenger footwell making the carpet wet, but it sounds as though you've covered that one).

I'm not sure how the aircon works in the S, but the aircon is a good dehumidifier so make sure it's not turned off (economy mode, etc.).

Having the same issue on my "new to me" 07 HSE.

Willing to bet you a Mars Bar that the carpets are still ever so slightly damp from the valet the dealer did 43 seconds before I picked it up!!

Passenger footwell, right hand side, behind the centre console, right at the back.

You'll see a rectangular flap that opens to give you access to the filter.

Removing the glovebox makes it easier.

Somewhere on YouTube there's a video which shows it being done. Looks like it helps if you're a vertically-challenged contortionist!

Nah.....it's REALLY easy.

5-10 minute job including removal/refitting the glovebox.

It has also been said on here that the aftermarket filter can be a bar steward to fit and the genuine one is easier.

its easy just take notice of which way the lid was before removal its nearly symmetrical but not quite, working out which ways up takes longer than fitting At work

Might be worth a run with the heater on full and the back windows open to dry the car out in case it's just something damp inside... 2011 MY SD4 HSE + planning some interesting stuff

I struggled for ages trying to refit my lid. When I stopped trying to fit it back to front it just popped on. Embarassed Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

could dab a bit of touch up paint/ tipex/ etc at the top before taking the lid off - this way you can see which way it should face and which is the top Thumbs Up
