United Kingdom 2011 LR2 TD4 XS Manual Sumatra Black
Winter tyres

My 61-Reg Freelander XS is shod with its original Contiinental Contact M+S 235/65 R17 tyres. I've bought a n extra set of wheels and want to fit winter-grade tyres. However, I haven't been able to source winter tyres of the same size. I'd appreciate any help in finding some and also advice as to whether fitting a narrower profile would be a practical solution, as narrower tyres seems to be more readily available.

Thanks..............Adrian

Google is your friend:-

Clicky --> Avon Ranger Ice Tyres

EDIT: This was just an example.....I have no experience of winter tyres, and so cannot recommend any particular brand/type.....

There are many threads on here regarding winter tyres, including this one which is active at the moment:
http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic17497.html

If you read the above and maybe also use the search facility you will find everything you need to know.

Or just follow the link above to the Avon Ranger Ice - I use them and they're excellent!

Many thanks for useful leads on winter tyres. I live at the top of a slippery Lake District hill and, having run Discoveries for the last 15 years, I don't yet know how the Freelander will cope, so winter tyres might be a necessity.

2012 SUV 4x4 Winter Tyre Test - size 235/55/R17 - here's what the experts said about those great value Nokian: Smile

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Nokian/WR-A3.htm

No guessing which tyre and manufacturer was in No1 spot Wink

And for all those that bought the cheapo Marangoni - the conclusion was "lethal" Evil or Very Mad
