Some years ago I had jeep Cherokee Sport with the simple air conditioning and it was not dripping all the time. As technology evolved I thought that maybe there is no reason for dripping anymore. It seems this is not the case http://www.familycar.com/Classroom/ac1.htm

Thanks Matei, perhaps i am looking for a problem that doesn't exist. I used to own a Sorento which seemed to make puddles from the air con all the time maybe the Frellander 2 is a bit more refined. Think I will wait to see if any other problems arise, someone suggested I would expect wet carpets if the tube from the air con was blocked, lets hope that doesn't happen.

I get drips from the aircon, I'd guess it is most days that it appears, but then again, I never turn it off, so to be expected.

Its the humidity in the outside air, when you lower airs temperature it cant hold as much water so the extra water condenses in your AC air box. A lot of this freezes onto the condensers in the system, some drips out.

It should be the liquide separeted from the gas in the compressor. as the compressor is used to compress gasses and not liquides- liquides can hardly be compreesed and any liquides in the compreesed air will damage a compressor.. Liquide from the system should drain only if the system is not used (damaged seals y not beeing lubrificated)or there is a leak It shoud work like a home air conditioner. In the home air conditioners the time between freon - or whatever- the cooloing fluid is , should be bigger as the system is not in motion but in cars- especially off-roading ones the system will probably have to be checked on a yearly basis. It all comes down to craftmanship and sheer luck as the Jeep I owned some years ago did nothave the air conditioning system checked for five years and it worked just fine. I can only assume that the air conditioning on the FL2 is as good. Normally from my experience with cars with air conditioning the problems ususlly are in the air conditioning cooler with microscopic holes which loose coolant fluid. Never experienced them but had a friend who did and after numerous trips to the dealer the cure was a new air coditioning radiator.(this was a Mercedes) As I have been advised as the air conditioning is not using that much fuel the system really should be used all the time especially in modern cars where the system will be mostly off or on low if not required.
