The fuel filler flap of my 07 refuses to unlock. Despite locking and unlocking the car many times, it stays locked.

This happened a few times in the past and I sprayed lithium lubricant onto the spike that pops up and down but now its not unlocking at all.

Is there a way of releasing the lock, cos I need to fill up ASAP !

Check fuse 25 from the passenger's feet.
If is OK, then it's the motor which has the habit to fail because of the long command pulse.

Thanks for the quick reply, checked fuse and its ok but still stuck in locked position.

I don't think I've enough fuel to get to the dealer...is there a way of disabling the lock so I can refuel and book it into the dealer?

Oh, I also replaced the boot switch at the weekend, would this have any connection to the lock?

The plastic locking screw is knackered. You either go into the reason why and software update or simply get a new part and it will last a other 6 years in all probability.

Dead easy to replace. surprisingly the cost of a new part is only about £20. It includes a new motor and plastics/rubber round by the filler cap, flap door mount.

If you get this part, you can remove the old one by first gently taking the filler flap off. It slides towards the rear and simply pops off. Then just a controlled wrench to snap or force to open the rest of it. Then carefully cut the rubber round the metal filler. It will all pull off. The new part is quite comprehensive and pushes in, you'll see exactly where when looking at the new part. It saves taking the wheel arch lining off. A few minutes compared to an hour plus.

OK a replacement sounds the ideal solution, any idea of the part number?

Not off the top of my head and I've recycled the original LR box. Just asked for a fuel flap actuator for the FL2. Comes in a large box. Do not be tempted to buy from ebay. The parts they sell are incomplete and expensive.

Here's the TSB, it's got the part number, but don't do it per instructions, it will take ages. Just do it via the fuel flap.
