United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey

Just changed my Yokohama geolanders @ 50K miles for Continental Cross Contact AT in 235 65 17. Much beter in the mud than yokohamas, negotiated some steepish v muddy tracks at the sides of fields today down in a wet cornwall, very little TC required Thumbs Up
. They were original fit on all Defenders last year. No more noise on road either. So far so good Very Happy

Pirelli Scorpion ATR are a straight swap, and are good offroad ( but obviously not as aggressive as a mud terrain) and as a plus they also drive quietly on the road and handle nicely. the seller for me me was a nice heavy rim protection bead to protect the alloys.

Hi, am in Halifax too! Where did you get yours from and what size are they?

Thanks Thumbs Up

2012 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Galway Green

Despite my best efforts boss wasnt keen to put the STT on in 245/17/17 so i ended up with the AT.

Have to say that i have been impressed with what i thought would be fairly useless tyres. Good in the snow and alright all round. More limited than i was with a Shogun on BFG all terrains but surprisingly good.

VERDICT - good tyres for all round use and much much better than stock tyres!

Few of the D3 & D4 boys and girls have the new Goodyear duratrac fitted and they look very good, fitted swmbos FL2 with wintrac extreme 4's while I run Pirelli ATR's on my D3, will be looking to swap them this year as they have done near on 30k so will see what comes up.

They look great are there any implications by putting 245/70/17 at tyres on apart from the speedo ? When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

I spoke to a tyre man earlier and he advised me against fitting 245 70 17 as the gearing will be crap low down. What do you suggest ? 245 65 17 or 235 65 17 or 245 70 17 as above I have a manual car not an auto When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car

Unless you're regularly having problems with ground clearance oversize tyres make little sense in the UK (different in Oz), so stick with the standard 235/65 17!

I have a set of Cooper Discoverer ATR 245/65/17 available at around £115. Only 1.75% increase in size & a good tough all round tyre if a little noisier on the tarmac. They went on with no spacers required. They were also quite good in the snow. They are lettered on one side only .
