Housing Market & Politicians

I've just read this article by Mark Steel and felt it was worth sharing. I have no particular political allegiance anymore-I think they are all as incompetent as each other-but the latest batch of morons really do take some beating. Why is a degree in common sense not a prerequisite for a place in government?? I had a problem getting the link to work so just copy it into your search window.

Politicians really are complete an utter f Censored kwits, only interested in policies that might keep their party in power.

Could it be that all the major parties politicians all went to the same schools/universities?
So that they come out with a degree in politics, rather than an experience in real life?

Not just slagging of the "labour" for not first getting a job and working up to politics.
Also slagging off the other lot for not trying to start a business from the ground up, and learning how difficult mountains of red tape can make life.

Like many others I am dissolusioned with the current top 3 political parties, maybe not yet up to the stage of voting for the extremes either way, but it's easy to see why they are getting a larger share of the vote.

Slightly jaded view as we have a 31 year old living with us, who has no chance of getting a mortgage, and his brother is struggling to pay £150pm more for rent than a mortgage would cost on a similar sized house. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

I still live with my parents (I'm 29) and that's because of the uni fees more than anything else. I had to take out a loan of £7.5k to fund the LPC and that's being paid over 5 years. I am planning to move out in 2016 or 2017 but because of car finance as well, I cannot see me having enough for a deposit, so I may end up renting.

When the 3 year GMFV plan is up, I think I will hand back the car and then use some savings to buy an older car outright (something reliable needed such as a Honda - dull I know). Need to free up some money big time before moving out, especially as I am currently without a Mrs Doctor Laughing (Frankly, a certain bird at Uni has been so moody and on and off that it's enough to make me join a monastery Laughing ) LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I have worked in the housing industry for 40 years so am in a good position to comment. Firstly, who is happy for the value of their property to fall? Who sells their house below market value? I have yet to come across anyone who gets out the bunting when the value of their house falls or offer to sell their house below market value to enable someone to get on the ladder. The same people who say we should build more 'affordable' homes are also the very same people who complain like hell when anyone submits a planning application to build houses in their area and god forbid those houses should be social rent. The country with the highest level of home ownership is Bangladesh, one of the lowest levels of home ownership is Germany, where would you rather live?! And I haven't even started ranting yet! eh tu?
