My 2013 FL2 came with standard LR rubber car mats, but only the driver's mat has a hole for fastening on the plastic hook in the carpet, even though there are pairs of hooks through the carpet in each of the passenger footwells. Was this a bit of a design glitch

Not at all, you've just been given mats for pre MY13 which only had the drivers hole and clip. The shape hasn't changed so either swap them or put your own holes in.

Hooks are for the carpet mats not the rubber mats

VPLFS0233 fits from 2006 through to MY12

VPLFS0250 is for the MY13

So something's changed. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

The rubber mats that came with my MY2013 have holes in them, but they don't look like factory holes....more likely 'Dealer drilled'.

I have the old 2012 set still that Dan supplied, so I will compare them up close later this week...no visible visual difference that I can see so far.... Foraging near Gaydon....
