Errrrrr. If you don't know what one looks like fitted then how do you know yours is missing? Just curious |

I would presume there isnt supposed to be a big gap round the column. I have also read other posts that have mentioned this missing causing increased engine noise. |

The difference this makes being fitted incorrectly (ie: on the p!ss) is very noticeable, if it's missing completely you'll wonder how you managed without it once fitted. |

I had turbo whistle on mine which was annoying but I m not sure if I have a grommet fitted. Anyway I got short piece of 3/4 inch foam pipe insulation, opened it up, wrapped round the steering column where it goes through the carpet, and then pushed it slightly down into the hole.. Made a big difference to engine noise and no more annoying turbo whistle.. |

Yes, it worked for me. I think there was a problem with this seal and there was maybe a LR fix for. From posts I think TVLR know about this, however they are a long way from me. I tried to get my dealer to fix it but they denied there was a problem or a fix! I had heard of owners sticking a sock or something similar into the hole but thought this might work better....and it does certainly worked for me |

It's quite possible that the grommet is still there. Grommets are fiddly to fit and often on the assembly line don't fit them properly.

How on earth do you work this out that often they don't fit them? It's not a grommet but a boot anyway. |

I've not looked to be honest. I went from the original description of grommet. Didn't know it was a boot
