United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Firenze Red
Top Ten cars that pass their first MOT

This is my first post, as up to now I have had no problems with my MY2013 Freelander to complain about or seek help with !
I purchased my car with some trepidation, knowing of LR's reputation for poor reliability. I was encouraged by a friend who had bought two in succession, and said they were the most trouble-free cars he had ever owned. And he had run several Mercedes . Now I have spotted this in the Daily Telegraph, and can only assume LR must be doing some things right.

I appreciate not every one's experience is as happy as mine, and for that I am sorry, but I am delighted with my purchase..................so far !

Could be that these have been in and out of dealers for the previous 3 years and everything has been replaced with new parts, so no MOT issues Very Happy

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Indus Silver

I put my 07SE through 3MOT's without so much as an advisory. 78k on the clock when I got rid of it and all I needed to do was have it serviced, odd set of wipers, set of rear brake pads and two sets of new tyres (Conti 4x4 cross contact 108V - average 34k per set and still legal). Oh, I did have to replace the glove box damper - £3.00 to buy and 10minutes to fit. Quite happy with that. 2007 SE Manual : Gone and missed but 2013 HSE Lux is better!
Series IIa : Gone but hopefully still alive.

Interesting to read. My 2008 Freelander 2, has cost me more in repairs in three years, than my 1997 Discovery 1 has cost me in the last 12 years of ownership. Even servicing has been cheaper on the Discovery. And yet I know I will probably buy another Freelander 2, unless I go to a Discovery 4. 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

It truly is "pot luck" PR. My '08 is at over 100,500m. In the past 27 months of ownership I have replaced the wheel arch trims and the tailgate latch - a total of about £80. Also rear discs and pads but they are wear & tear items. Oh! and it has always passed it's MOT! Thumbs Up 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Its a shame the article doesn't go into more details as to what cars were failing for? The majority of cars failing might just be for having a light out which IMO is not as bad as damaged suspension etc. I cant remember last time I had a car fail an MOT, maybe because I've always had my car regularly serviced/maintained. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
Gone MY2010 Freelander 2 Manual TD4.e S, Alaska White.

Unless the car is over the mileage warranty I cannot see how any car can fail the MOT if correctly serviced, assuming that the garage is not pulling a fast one. The main dealer of my Hyundai SF did try with two items, wanted £18 to set headlamps as they were too high and found a worn suspension bush, Told them headlamp was a service item and the bush warranty, so sort it. Part exchanged it two weeks later for the Freely. Admittedly it wasn't the first MOT but the last before the warranty ran out, shouldn't happen my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

But while I was in the Stealers waiting I over heard a phone conversation to a Customer telling them that there clutch was shot and when they tack it out there may be an issue with the Fly wheel and your looking at £1800 Sir Big Cry Not sure what car they were talking about though.
