I had a very similar experience with Stratstone Doncaster a few years ago. I gave them another chance and it was just the same - cutting corners and telling lies seemed 'business as usual' for the dealership.

The next time I chose to have the car serviced on my drive and after seeing how easy it is, I dusted off my tools and set about doing the next one myself. The first time I had serviced my own cars for well over ten years. Puts me in mind of the strap line "Land Rover:- turning drivers into mechanics since 1948!"

A full service (a level B one according to LR) costs under £100 in parts (including all genuine fuel/oil/air/pollen filters + Castrol oil) plus a couple of hours of my time. Its a scandal that dealers charge £450+ and then try and con you into further work. Each time I service one of our FL2s, I get a warm feeling of accomplishment and the knowledge everything has been changed and done properly. I accept its not for everyone and the dealers should definitely be more trustworthy but I will not go back to them.

If you don't want to spanner yourself, then the non-franchise specialists such as Green Oval and Team Valley are the way to go and you still get free coffee!

Exactly why I pick up my toolbox and service mine myself. I’ve been caught out many times over the years with various makes and models when had a dealer service the vehicle (just because it was under warranty).
Be interesting to see when I finally part ex (sometime very soon) how much they knock of the value because it doesn’t have dealer stamps in the book ££££££. Shocked

Did that when I had my FL2 serviced and MOT'd at MJ Fews.
The spirited drive to Charfield was negated by the half hour the engine was left idling before the test even started. Still passed the smoke test first time. At least they changed the brake/clutch fluid which hadn't been done at the last service.
The "technician" noticed the camera but may not have realised that it was recording as it was set to silent and the only light that was on was the GPS.
