United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
Time for a bloody good rant!

I went for a swim at lunch time today, and managed to get my usual spot which is on it's own in the corner of the car park.

Had a good swim and came back to find a young man and a young lady putting stickers on 4x4's. They were in the process of sticking one to mine when I asked them what the hell they were doing.

By this point, I realised that they were both tree huggers. The woman then started to rant about how my car is responsible for adding to global warming and that I don't need a 4x4.

I said to her, what do you know about me any what my car needs are, she continued that I was polluting the air with my big dirty 4x4 and she could not think of a positive reason as to why I need one.

At this point, I thought I'll not rise to them and just drive off. It is then that I noticed that they were getting in to a Ford Galaxy 2.3 petrol.

I stopped and got out and said did they realise that the piece if Censored Galaxy they had produced about 50% more emissions than my big bad 4x4.

She responded, but this is a car so it can't be, and yours is still a dirty 4x4. I just told her to go and learn a little more about the stuff she was ranting about.

I took a photo of the sticker on my windscreen, her and her car and said she would be hearing my family lawyer via the police if there was any damage to my car, and that I am sure I could pursue her for criminal damage if there was any.

(I haven't got a family lawyer, but she didn't know that).

So off she went with a tail between her legs and upon exiting the car park, drove straight into the kerb on the car park exit and burst her front tyre.

So I drove up the grass embankment which had quite a gradient, drove by and said, you should have got a 4x4 then you would not have burst your tyre.

That's what I call Karma!! Just had to check when I got back that I haven't got any dirt on the car! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

The hypocrisy of Left-wing, sandal wearing, lentil munching wastes of oxygen knows no bounds. Happy to take all the benefits paid for by the 4x4 Drivers who get fleeced in tax at the pumps, rather than getting a proper job and earning a living I'm sure! I'm very glad she burst her tyre, hopefully she cracked her alloy at the same time! Laughing Laughing

Well done Mav, that's not the first time as I too have come across 4x4 bashing brigade in a super market car park and the bloke was driving an old Mazda RX7 which is so polluting their exhaust emissions are excerpt from the MOT test because they are so high ! Hydrocarbons alone are around 5000 PPM at idle ! I told home to go and carry out some research too Jaguar x-type sport gone

Move to the country! Up here every other car is a 4x4 and no one is the least bit worried about it.

the political thing would have been to change her wheel for her, turn the other cheek etc etc. not sure if I would have but it would give a certain smug satisfaction.

You did well to keep your calm Mav. Its impossible to have a rational debate with them. The argument is always lost when they are reminded that the UK is only responsible for 1.2% of the entire planet's CO2 emissions. What minuscule percentage would your 4X4 be adding to that already world class low figure? Less than some electric cars that offset the carbon to the local power station, that should have been nuclear by now if it weren't for 15 years of Socialist lack of investment in sensible electricity generation.
