Gas range cooker not working

I had a problem with the oven in my range cooker, it wouldn't light. I changed the thermocouple it that solved the problem. Now after about 30 minutes the flame goes out. I will need to get an engineer out to fix this as i'm not messing with the gas side of the cooker but has anyone come across this problem before in a gas oven? I don't want want to get ripped of by a gas fitter??

Cheers all! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

It's 4 years old, I bought it from comet, delonghi dtc90g. Before I get a gas engineer out I just wondered if any one had any experience of this problem at all. I don't know of any gas engineers so was worried about getting ripped off with the repair. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

If no-one else comes up with an answer here..I've always found the diynot crowd to be very helpful with things like this.

absence of a flame or a weak flame indicates a faulty safety valve. In this case, the safety valve must be replaced for the oven to heat properly.

At 5 years old it could be argued that such a fault renders the cooker of unsatisfactory quality (being a range cooker it should be more durable in theory.) Then again it could also be argued that it's reasonable to expect such faults after 5 years use.

In any case, comet went bust so unless you paid by credit card...

Could be one of two things,

1, blocked bypass, when the oven is up to temp is the flame going out?
2, thermocouple is not in flame when it goes onto bypass and dropping out.

Warm oven up and turn temp down watching flame and see whats happening.
it will either go off completely ( Blocked bypass ) or go to low flame then drop out ( Thermocouple position) 2008 XS TD4, Sumatra Black, Manual.

Thanks all for the replies. I've checked the delonghi site and for 135 pounds they will send an engineer out to fix it, that covers all parts required and labour. I will check the thermocouple again. The one I replaced was definately broken, I'm sure I put the new one back correctly as it is held in place by a circlip. I will do as MJ suggests first of all and see how it goes. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I fixed the cooker in the end, there was two thermocouples available for my cooker, I bought the wrong one! Evil or Very Mad

Still, bought the correct one and it's all sorted now. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
