No, it only seems to do it under moderate to heavy accelaration from cold(-ish). Maybe it is just me pushing the engine too hard when its warming up? But if it is, then why is the noise clearly coming from the front right hand side of the car...? 2008 3.2L HSE Zermatt Silver LHD |

So today I let the car warm up in the garage before taking it out on the road to see if it would still make the same noise when the engine is warm - it still did! Took it to a mechanic who took a look underneath and they want to replace both control arms (I think they meant both wishbone arms) and the shock absorber mount on the right hand side.

You can still hear the engine in the back ground which sounds fine. That surely is not any form of suspension issue, not that type of noise.

Havent had chance to watch the video (im at work hush hush) but the symptoms you describe are exactly what i had a couple of months ago. Sounded like the exhaust had gone but sounded like it was from the right front wheel (almost as though the wheel wasnt tightened to the rim). More noticable on left hand turns with me. LR Assist came out and diagnosed a sticking aux belt tensioner. Took it to LR and they said it had partly seized, they freed it, lubricated it and stuck it back on no problems - took them no longer than an hour. Worth checking this out first as your mechanic is gonna charge you for something you dont need Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
