I think it's quite a good setup with useful features such as swipe from the bottom of the screen. Text appears sharper LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I like what I see so far. There are a lot of features that were long overdue, like caller blocking, text blocking etc, that I shall happily add all the damn PPI numbers to....I'm using the works 4S as a test mule for it, and it seems to cope ok thus far.

The reason that I haven't put it onto my iPhone 4 or iPad Gen 3, is that Apple claim that it is a true 64-bit operating system, designed for true 64-bit Hardware, and as we all know, the only 64-bit phone in the world is the forthcoming iPhone 5s. I am concerned that my trusty aged iPhone 4 simply won't have the processor speed to cope with the new iOS....currently, it struggles with v5.1.1 at times.

I shall play around a bit more today with it on the 4s, but would be interested to hear if anyone has noticed a marked drop in performance when running it on an iPhone 4. I note that Taz has already seen his iPad drop in performance, and wonder if this will have a similar effect? Foraging near Gaydon....

I'd say its a matter of playing about with it and getting use to it. The animation when opening/closing an App is annoying slightly - I can see a button appearing to turn this off in the future.

I can see a few 'niggles', one being not to be able to swipe in either direction to delete an email.

I've heard it works well with iphone 4. Snappier is one of the comments.

I sold my iphone 4 last weekend, so I'll be one of the sad-do's that'll be in line for a 5S in the morning Embarassed

Going away this week on hols this week and I need my iPhone and iPad to work so I'll wait till I come back and ios 7.01 will no doubt be out. Laughing

Edit:
Well, I sneakily loaded onto wifey's iPhone to try it out first. Seemed fine so downloaded it onto both iPhones and both our iPads. Not tried out all the features yet but I like the call/text blocker facility on the phone so that should eventually stop all those sales calls at last!

Now this may be coincidence but in my house on T Mobile our phones fluctuate between 2 bars and no service. Since the update we got a minimum of 4 bars and calls seem clearer. Also, I'm in Spain at the moment and we get our wifi off the new neighbours villa opposite (with their permission) and where we used to have to stand practically on their patio just to even pick up their wifi name, I am now typing on my iPad from the comfort of my settee for the first time ever. Only just get a minimum signal but it's certainly good enough to use. Yippee! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Probably the best thing to do Steve.

In saying that, I didn't have any issue and it only took around 15-20 mins to install on my iPad and the Mrs iphone.

this is what sky news were saying about it:so its not just you guys.

Apple's new-look operating system has got off to a rocky start, with users complaining of having difficulties downloading it.

Hailed as a new beginning for the technology giant, iOS 7 was eagerly anticipated and millions tried to download it on its Wednesday release.

But many complained after a message appeared telling them: "An error occurred whilst downloading iOS 7.0."

Users took to social media to express their frustration at the setback as"iOS 7.0" became a trending topic on Twitter.

Review: Hands-On With iOS7
Updated: 3:57pm UK, Wednesday 18 September 2013

By David MacLean, Sky News Online

It's slick, it's shiny, and you'll feel like you have a brand new iPhone.

Gone is the clunky and dated interface, swept away by a minimalist design with a raft of new functions.

The most useful feature so far has been a swipe-up menu with options to toggle airplane mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a torch, and sleep mode.

It's a simple feature that has been around for a few years on some other smartphones, but Apple has always cherry-picked features from other gadgets and refined them.

The first change you'll notice is a stripped-down lock screen, followed by the overhaul of the icons for iPhone's default applications. Everything's flattened.

Design chief Sir Jonathan Ive believes we're smart enough to know how to use our smartphones - icons no longer need to look like real-life 3D buttons to let us know we can push them, for example.

By the same token, he's ditched the yellow legal notepad style of the notes app in favour of a clean white background. The icon for photos is no longer a photo - it's a graphic made up of eight interlocking ovals representing a flower.

The way the phone reacts to your movement and touch has changed too. The background image tilts with the phone, giving it a feeling of depth. When you open a folder you appear to swoosh towards the collection of apps inside.

Everything has been updated, Safari seems quicker and more fluid, the camera has a bunch of Instagram-style features, while the messages app has been streamlined with a new cleaner design.

The drop-down menu at the top of the screen has been improved, giving you a succinct rundown of your day ahead based on your calendar entries, reminders, and other apps.

The biggest problem with iOS7 is battery life. I feel as though I've always got one eye on where my next charge point will be.

It's a problem that most iOS releases have had initially, and Apple will no doubt patch it up with an update, but it's an issue nonetheless. Iain

Armeggedon will not be heralded by the four horsemen of the apocalypse, it will appear in the form of a borked iOS update Rolling with laughter

It's a phone FFS

Strangely, my 11 old year took to it immediately, adapting without any issue, the future is theirs and they are leaving us out Big Cry

I installed it on my iPhone and iPad last night. It's all a bit too white for me and I hate the new Safari icon. Functionally though it seems very good. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech
