2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Santorini Black

Thought I'd chuck my 2p worth in, my renewal up for the D3 and was quoted 700 with my insurance so went on a comparison website and found a cheaper quote 500! Happy days I thought. Ah well, when I rang the cheaper company up found out I needed up add cover to matched what I've got already which bumped up the price, 550, still cheaper so ok we will go at that. Come to pay and they said what about a claim in July? ( said claim is not a claim of such, someone walked into the car but they left the scene before their details could be gained ) I said aye, that was a named driver on another car and with its own policy and nowt to do with me as I have over 10 years ncb and written proof of this. They proceeded to say that even though it wasn't me that had been involved it was on one of my policies and the named driver wasn't on this policy I was getting insurance for so it was deemed my fault. Their words were ' I take responsibility for them '
They didn't ask for any details at all but added it and it came back at 1300.
I then asked that SWMBO insurance was up soon and again they came top in comparison but as I'm a named driver on her insurance would I have to give details of what was just discussed? They said yes.
So in fact SWMBO insurance will go up if I'm a named driver because I have another vehicle (apart from D3) with a policy with a named driver on thats got an open claim as such ( no claim against, just being honest) that's pushing it up. The named driver on my other policy as their own car as well and all claims and points and stuff would be disclosed if that named driver is on any policies in future.
What I'm trying to get across is this, you have a car that's got a named driver on, now if that person as their own car with a named driver on their policy and that named driver as had a claim, and you don't disclose this, you may find yourself not insured.
I said i was being discriminated against, as it was not me myself who had a claim and it was someone else on a different policy.
On the comparison site there is no way of putting any details of named drivers that have/had a claim on other policies but are not on the quote you are looking to get at the time.
Anyway, insured with original insurance folk as they have all the details and policies of ALL the different cars we have with them.
Hope when you read this you get what I'm trying to get across. Thumbs Up

I understand what you are saying.

However, all comparison websites that I have used specifically ask whether or not the named driver has had any accidents, claims or convictions (usually in the last five years), irrespective of whose Policy, be it whilst on yours, theirs, a Limited Company's etc etc. They just want to know in general.

Insurance sucks - its legalised piracy IMHO, but unfortunately a necessary evil in today's society. Foraging near Gaydon....

Your comments make perfect sense, insurance is a scam, personally I tell them as little as possible, they can be clever with words, I can be clever with my answers, I tell them what they want to hear.

We have recently had a works van written off, apprentice drove into the bak of a parked car, two days later we went to collect belongings from the garage on the Wirral who towed the car away, it wasn't there, it had gone to Bristol Shocked
Insurance inspector had been to the garage, spent all of two minutes there from what we have been told and offered us 」600 more than we paid for the van Laughing

Thanks for the input, particularly in regard to response to claims, you don't get that kind of info from a price comparison website. NFU quoted 」800 for self and wife, 」1400 if included daughter (2Cool and boyfriend (30+) full NCB and clean licences all round.

Did you ring the national number or call your local office?

NFU were half the cost of anything I found on the comparison sites. No fuss and no fee for changing details. Fantastic with claims (no other company would pay out with all the farmer's defenders going with the keys in)

Need the local office.
