Bird strike! Door mirror advice sought...

Hello all

Was hit by errant bird whilst scooting down a country lane. It hit the door mirror.

Damage report: mirror glass cracked, colour-matched top half of rear mirror cover lost. All else perfect - no further damage, mirror adjustment, fold & unfold all still perfect.

Question: Will LR supply just the bits I need (top half of cover + mirror glass) or will they sting me for a complete mirror assembly? Cost?

Any suggestions for aftermarket alternatives to keep cost down? eg primed rear top half cover, I can spray it...

Any trusted fleabayers you can suggest? eg...

Many thanks in advance... (don't wanna turn up at Halewood looking like a builder's van... Sad )

You can get just the covers for your model, but, iirc they will come in primer if you get them from a dealer, need spraying Thud
If you go via the bay make sure they fit, prior to MY09 they had covers over the top of the mirror, MY09 you could then change the backs.
As for the glass, speak to a dealer and get the part number first, then have a look around, so far I've found over six different part numbers. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

I had a whole new mirror assembly from LR back in 2011 after a bus pulled out on me - £350 fitted. Mirror covers can be bought seperately but my guess is you will have to buy a pair, LR will supply primed ones whereas you can get painted ones on fleaby for around £80 if i remember correctly.

These guys are selling the glass for door mirrors for £25

I bought my mirror caps a few weeks back from another seller for £48 - just needed to hunt around and wait for a genuine pair to come up at the right price.

If you want them primed and then paint yourself they are £72.90 before postage and then painting on top Sad
