Got back to my LR2 after leaving it for 5 hours whilst shopping. Pressed the unlock button and it opens no probs, load up shopping onto back seat (boot is full of junk) and then jumped into the driver's seat. Tried to put the keyfob in as per usual, however it wouldn't engage into the slot properly. Tried it again, turned it around, but it wouldn't go in. gf tries and she has the same problem. So, the first problem we have is the car cannot be started.

I then tried the the tried and tested 'turn it off and back on again' trick, but this is when things got weird - the keyfob wouldn't work. I couldn't lock or unlock the car - it was as if the keyfob had died. Therefore, I now had an unlocked car which wouldn't start.

After getting nowhere with Land Rover Assistance - all they'd do was send a lowloader and take it to the dealers, I ended up having to use the emergency key to lock the car and get a taxi home.

Anybody else experienced the same? What was the resolution?

Haven't been able to sort it yet as I'm on a business trip on the other side of the planet at the mo...

Basically, the key wouldn't go into the slot - as if there was something stopping it from going all the way in. Will try and get it sorted later in the week when I'm not 12 timezones away!

ah yes, the second key.... I don't have the 2nd key! I bought my car used and it got lost between the previous owner and the dealer - I'm awaiting a new replacement key from the UK at the moment, but it could take a while to reach Dubai

As my english is not that good I had a look for "scouser" and found out that it refeers to a Liverpool native. So what would a scouser be usefull for in a rain free area?
About 20 years ago I accidently locked ud my Prisma while fitting the battery (batteries for diesels were difficult to befound then and in winter we took yhem in the house especcially if they were not new). The only set of key cars were inside the car. Also as I did not manage to find the fuse that was responsible for the car's electric windows (which I later found out were just under the gear's stick cover- logical) I first tried to remove one of the rear windows triangles. Did not succed of course. Then two policemen appered with a chained - what I suppose you name scouser- and were trying to do a remake of the last night burglery that took place at the local pizza place.
So I asked them for help and if they would ask him to be so kind and open the car for me. They obliged but he was useless as it seems that they are sort of specialised. Ended up by breaking the plastic cover where my right (left for most of you) mirror would have been and than just used the window button to get it down nd then open the car. Put the parts in place with superglue and reused the system several times.

I have had problems with locking. My car was ferried to the stealer this afternoon for another reason so I intend to raise a few more issues before I get the car back.

Basically the problem I have has was the car would not open with the remote despite locking the car a few minutes earlier. The first time this happened I got the spare and it opened no problem. The second time I got the spare and that would not work, as I was going on holiday I began to panic thinking that I would have to use the emergency key. After a few attempts it resolved itself and have to wait for it to reappear.

Do you store the two keys in the same place? Its been reported on here that this can cause problems, somehow they interfere with each other. However keep mine on the same key rack and they have never caused any trouble. At work

Bloody hell don't store the keys next to each other.
Don't push the start button immediately after inserting the key.
Don't try to start before the passenger has clicked their seat belt in.
Don't try to start with the steering lock on.
It all confuses the electrics.

So after leaving the car in the sun for 5 days, I got back to it and it opened first time and started up no problems. Will book it in with the dealer soon to let them have a check, but I'm not sure if they'll find anything wrong.

I am right in thinking that the key charges up when it's in the slot aren't i?
