seat foam upgrade

renewed my drivers seat foam today, took about 1 hour after a little research on the net.
just raise the seat to maximum height and remove four 10mm bolts, then disconnect the element wire from a snap connecter.
the base lifts out,the leather seat cover takes some working out to remove but the clips push down then out from the top at a 45 degree angle.
then remove from the metal base, then the leather needs removing from the foam, its held on with small round springs which are a nightmare to remove so its easier to use tie wraps when refitting.
the heater element peels off the old foam easily and I put a few strips of double sided tape on the new foam to stop the element moving when refitting the leather back on.
relatively straightforward and well worth it.
mine has done 20k but as i'm 20 stone it was a little flat on the edges,
feels like a new car and when I sat on for the first time I had to alter the side and rear mirrors as i'm sat higher.
totally transformed the seat, well worth £85 from duckworths

Any pictures of the seat removal Sparkybaz.

Reason I ask is that I can see the two front bolts holding the seat to the frame but not the rear two retaining bolts!
And, I also cannot get a purchase on the front two 10mm bolts. Crying or Very sad

if you move the seat up and forward and look under the seat there is a metal strip that the seat sits on,its about 25mm wide, the bolts are silver and the bracket is black so they do stand out if you stick your head in the footwell.slightly harder to refit but once one bolt is in all ok.
if you remove the front two bolts the seat base hinges up and you can remove the bolts from the front,i fount it easier doing from underneath though.

Why didn't you get the seat foam from your local LR dealer? It was much cheaper. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

£85.00 is retail price. Basically £70.83 plus VAT is £84.99.

I paid £72.24 including VAT, which is including a 15% discount. I have found that most Land Rover dealers are willing to give a decent discount if you go in and talk to them.

But as long as this has sorted out the problem for you. Thumbs Up Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

incorrect RRP is £98.66+VAT

i imagine you perhaps got a cheaper price due to old stock write down, where the dealer has had the item in stock for x amount of item and it gets written down in value.

how very odd as only seems to be one part number available and prices across the dealer network are all the same as per photo above stating RRP price, what part number did you receive?

I can only assume they are working off an old price matrix, as looking through history that was the old correct RRP price, going back to the start of this year up until a price increase Rolling Eyes by LR at beginning of July Sophie Alltoft

I was going to say, would different seats have different part numbers.

The part number I have is LHGB50070 which is not like the usual LLR part numbers.

Mine was also February this year which would be before the price increase. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Drop the initial "L" if there are 4 letters (or it's LLRnnnnnn) - making yours HGB50070

Apologies for resurrecting an old post, one question I have is do all freelander 2 front seats contain the same seat foam? – e.g fabric / half leather / full leather and do both driver and passenger seats have the same inserts - symmetrical?

Cheers,
Al

The base foam is the same on the driver and passenger seats the back foam is different but only in the location of the airbag. That said you can make the passenger side foam fit the driver seat! My "guess" is the foam is the same for all the seats but I'm not 100% sure.
