There has been a post recently by a member who had shut the tailgate with keys in loadspace and the car all deadlocked. He cannot be the only person to do that. He had to bust the rear quarter window to get in the loadspace to retrieve his keys and now has a costly repair bill. I think another had to get LR assist out to get him in.

I had a BMW some years ago that came with 2 normal keys and also a plastic key that was so thin you could put it in your wallet and not know it was there. Therefore if you ever got locked out as long as you had your wallet you could use the plastic key to get back in! Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

One thing springs to mind about the above photo - I think is a bit of a wind up!

May i kindly suggest that I think you are missing the obvious . The key blade only opens the car door. The FL needs the key block in the dash socket both to clear the alarm that's just been triggered and to enable the car to start. So there's no risk of the car being stolen with only a key blade.

Why would it go? As soon as you open the door with the blade the alarm will go off and with no way of silencing it is the average tea leaf going to hang around?

Might just hang about long enough to rip out the stereo or anything else to hand. |

Because if like mine you will find a clause that if a key is used all is null and void.... T Terran 'The' Car For The Modern Day UK Roads ( ie all the pot holes ) 'A Freelander that leaks oil is just marking its territory' - Wise words Now a member of the FL2 'Silly Bill' Club |
