Tracing my old FL2

I was on the dvla website the other day and put my old FL2's reg into the vehicle enquiry and it came back saying it is not known on the system. Would this be because it has been written off or perhaps its current owner has put a private plate on it?

If the former has anyone spotted a Rimini Red FL2 with bodykit, privacy glass and alpaca leather interior feeling sorry for itself in a salvage yard?

It will be because it has a private plate or has been exported.
.
Written of cars stay on the system. Probably 95% of late model cars get repaired and return to the road. There are basically 4 catagories of which Cat 'C' has a marker with DVLC until overseen by VOSA. Cat 'A's are to be destroyed without parts removal, Cat 'B' can be only broken for parts but in exceptions are repaired, Cat 'D's they don't worry about. I think that even A and B would still remain on the records for police recognition in case of ringers being active.
.
Take a look again I two years as when private plates are re-transferred to the next car yours would revert to its original plate.

It depends if the registration has been used on another car. SWMBO had a personal plate on her Audi A3 but it has just been taken off as the car is up for sale. After 5 years we got the original registration back.

My first Fl2 is going around my area, somehow it still feels like mine. It's had side strips and a tow bar fitted since I had it. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

No i was just interested tyo see if it was still going, 4 months after I got rid of it I looked it up on the DVLA website and it said it wasnt insured - a quick check of autotrader and i found it for sale at a garage in Wigan.

My previous cars (a 05 plate BMW and a 51 plate BMW) are still going strong but a 96 plate Astra I had between 96 and 99 has finally gone off the DVLA system - 17 year life span on that one!

No there not. All cars receive back there original plates. Unless the car was registered with a private plate from day one and then an age related plate is applied.

There are exceptions of course if the original plate is not available, but it is policy to re-assign the original. My last 7 cars over the past 10 years have had the original plates back. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather.
