Back in 1975, I bought my first moped, a Garelli Rekord, which was the ferrari of mopeds, and went like stink, until the piston got a hole in it. Dodgy electrics, things fell off, but I loved it. Would love to have the registration number as a private reg for my Freely. Cant find the number on DVLA, no record on database. Anybody got any idea on a) how I find it? b) if it is possible to get it? It is bound to be a rusty heap of scrap, or even melted down and part of a steel lintel or something by now. Any help appreciated. |

Just tried both suggestions. Nothing in database. Possible wild goose chase, but would really like to have it. Will keep trying. Thanks for your suggestions. |

Garrelli Record, Takes me back I had one new in 1974, cost about £86 new, insurance was £7.50 fully comp, they did two versions, the road version and the mustard coloured Trial version, the Blue one I had, PBH84M, would do nearly 60mph but if you did it at night it would blow tail lamp or the headlight, as the faster you went the brighter the lights were until they blew, so counteracted that by fitting a 12v tail lamp as the standard lamps were 6v. They also had a passion for eating spark plugs. I sold it to a mate after 18 months as I had then moved on to four wheels, as far as I know it is in a farmers barn about a mile from where I used to live. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

Mine was a red road version. Had many races on it with FS1E's. As you said, ate plugs and electrics were s**t, but loved it. Many a time being going up a dark road with throttle on full, and lights failed. Fun eh? |

If the vehicle that has the reg mark on been scrapped then I think the reg mark is lost forever. I worked with a lad once, his car was in an accident and written off. The car was scrapped but he didn't put his plate on retention then when he tried to get the plate back the dvla refused as the car was scrapped. Yep. If it's been scrapped then the registration number is lost and gone forever. garioch43

Just get the plates made up and run round with them on, it's perfectly legal in Bradford to do that so it must be a bit further out in Calderdale 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
