It looks like the Freelander 2 will be here for a little longer than we thought.

The current word is, the Freelander's replacement will be for the 2016MY, so September/October 2015. This is to tie in with the new Hotfire AJ200 engines that it will run. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

JLR are building there own 4 cylinder engines for future models. It's a new modular design that will use the same block for petrol and diesel units and also be the same for all power outputs.

For example, the 2.0 4 cylinder petrol will have power outputs from say 150bhp to as high as 500bhp if they wanted to. With modern twin turbocharging and management technology, a reliable 500bhp is pretty easy to do.

Vauxhall tuners Courtenay Sport have been producing ultra reliable and bullet proof 480bhp 2.0 Turbo Engines for about 5 years, that drive like normal cars around town and are animals on track.

High power 4 cylinders are nothing new, but it's getting them to usable for every day that is the hard bit.

Freelander replacement is still due to be revealed to the public at the Paris Motor Show in (September) 2014.

Hopefully it will be released when I am due for a change again. Looking forward to seeing what it will look like.

Not what I was told by someone in the know and also what the guys at Gaydon were saying last week.

Mav, you may be right about the engines delaying the car, it makes no sense to launch it with the current offering.
I fear it may loose sales though, the FL2 needs a new model desperately, it's no longer a 'desired' car as it's getting too old and with easy upgrades to make an 'older' car look new is putting off potential buyers in my opinion.
