Tyres .... which ones .....?

Hi all .....

.... I've just had fitted a new Good Year Wrangler HP .... top the front wheel, we had a full size spare ... so just fitted the one ....

Now, I'm a liitle disappointed with the wear .... just under 26,000 miles ..... and the Wrangler is now a dis-continued tyre .....

So ... what do you suggest I re-place the back 2 wheels with .... when needed in 2 / 3,000 miles or so ...

We are 235/65/R17s. ..... oh ... would be good to have an all weather tyre ... because of where we live.

I've been seeing this for ages now, but the Wrangler is still widely available. See, for example, blackcircles.com for a range of suitable tyres, including the Wranglers.

26K miles doesn't sound too bad, and the Wranglers have a good reputation, but you'll find many alternatives on blackcircles or similar.

I'm now running General Grabber ATs, but unless you want an all-terrain tyre (which I did) I'd probably stick with more road-oriented tyres like the Wrangler. (On the other hand, if you do want an AT the Grabbers are pretty good.)

Hi pab .... what sort of mileage are you getting out of your GG's ....??

I've got GG TR's on my Defender and they are on 57,000 miles ... with plenty to go ....!!!

It's too soon to say - they've not been on for long. On road I'd have to say they're not quite as good as the Continentals which were on before, but one would expect that of an AT. For an AT, though, I'm very happy with them - they are quiet on-road without seeming to compromise grip off-road (although I've yet to challenge them with anything more than slightly muddy byways).

I bought 3 Goodyear Wranglers 2 months ago. They look identical to the the pair I bought last year and have a manufacturing code 1513 which is the 2nd week of April so they were still being made then!

This is the cheapest I could find them when I was looking.

Wranglers still available as said.........last ages for me, mid 30k for the current pair on the rear but will need doing soon. I find them quiet on the road and really good for mild off road duties, tried a few others but always come back to these.

I've recently fitted Nexen Roadians, and have found them to be OK for road use. I don't know how they'll perform in the snow, but didn't think it was worth spending a fortune for a few days a year. The nexens were only £85 a corner, and were highly recommended by my local Indy tyre fitter.

I'm surprised that the Wranglers are wearing so quick, I had Wranglers on my 07 Freelander I traded it in with 38k on it still with the original Wranglers and I don't think I'm alone in getting good wear out of them Confused p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
